The Conger Eel is a big fish that usually grows to between 1 and 2 meters in length. It has a strong body like a snake. This fish has a large head with big rounded eyes. It lives on sandy and rocky bottoms, where it hides. It can live comfortably at the surface and also in the great depths, all over the Mediterranean Sea.
The conger eel is a night predator and feeds on crustaceans, squid, and fish. It can snatch away chunks of its big prey by turning its body repeatedly like a screw. Many congers have round scars on their heads, caused by their favorite prey: the squid.
