A flounder is a very funny fish: it has both eyes on the same side of its head. However, it starts its life like most fish, with one eye on each side. As the fish matures, the eyes "migrate" to one side. A flounder whose eyes have only partially migrated is a very funny sight indeed! A flounder likes to hide on the ocean floor, flat as a pancake with its eyes popping out of the sand! It is easy to mistake a flounder for the ocean floor because a flounder can change its color to mimic its surroundings.
