Southwest Ohio Science Institutes (SOSI), Course 1

 

Southwest Ohio Science Institutes (SOSI), Course 1 is a program offered to teams of science teachers, grades 3-6 and administrators.

SOSI summer workshops coupled with iDiscovery* online academic year follow-up, offers teachers at least 8 graduate credit hours and administrators at least 3 graduate credit hours through Miami University (tuition and fees waived).   Appropriate content and resources are used in each grade specific course for grades 3-6.   All first year courses address the following SOSI goals: 1) Enhance science teacher understanding of and capacity to use the Ohio Science Academic Content Standards (OSACS), 2) Develop deeper science content knowledge and instructional practices of participating science teachers, 3) Improve student achievement, and 4) Sustain programmatic changes at the school/district level.

Administrators must attend 4-half days of their choice (attendance should coincide with teacher attendance).
