Northwest (NW) Ohio Discovery Project 2008 is targeted towards thirty, grades 4-12, math teachers from eighteen districts in Auglaize, Mercer, Paulding, and Van Wert Counties in northwest Ohio.
Participants in this program will 1) focus on designing lessons and instructional activities that are aligned to content standards, 2) learn to incorporate inquiry based learning to classroom activities, 3) use instructional materials that model instructional design formats that can be replicated in their classrooms, including ones from the Ohio Resource Center, and 4) utilize facilitators that are trained in both Project Discovery concepts and Ohio Department of Education learning expectations through the Ohio Mathematics Academy Program (OMAP).
Participants will have the option to a) receive a certificate of participation for 4.5 CEU's, or b) purchase college credit (3 credit hours, Ashland University, $389).
Required follow-up sessions will occur during the school year.
