The Middle School Math Discovery Project is a program that addresses the lack of achievement in middle school (grades 4-9) mathematics. Over the course of five 6-hour summer workshop sessions, participants will be offered training in mathematics content, standards-based education, and research-based instruction. Participants will be provided with 1) standards-based mathematics lessons based on new concepts learned that will foster student growth in mathematical content knowledge and skills; as well as 2) high quality professional development in an ongoing, job-embedded way, that will increase teacher growth in mathematical content knowledge and instructional skills.
Required follow-up sessions will occur during the school year.
