The Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) is a unique program offered to mathematics teachers in grades 6-8. Instruction for this year's CMP program will focus on Connected Mathematics Project 2 curriculum, but will follow the same philosophy of the original CMP (i.e., teaching mathematics through developing understanding through rich mathematical tasks). Among course activities, participants will 1) explore the CMP units and materials; 2) increase their mathematical content knowledge by experiencing first hand how the use of inquiry based cooperative learning environments promotes learning; 3) align CMP curriculum with the Ohio Academic Content Standards grade level indicators; and 4) review resource materials that can be used in conjuction with CMP including resource books and web-based resources.
Required follow-up sessions will occur during the school year.
Please contact person listed for application and final dates.
Each institute's availability is dependent upon funding and a full complement of participants.
