Almy Awards for Poetry and Short Story Translations

Almy Awards in Critical Studies
Two awards of $500. Eligible are students who are declared English majors and minors and students currently enrolled in one of the department's literature courses. Essays should be a maximum of 20 pages, and be informed by contemporary literary or cultural theory. Contact the English Department for more specific information and submission deadline: 529-5221.
Daniel and Margaret Bookwalter Sophomore Awards in Creative Writing
Two prizes of $250, one each in poetry and prose. Eligible are all sophomores currently enrolled as majors or minors in the English Department and any sophomore who has taken a Creative Writing course for credit during the current academic year. Edward J. Montaine Junior Prizes in English
First prize of $3250; second prize of $2150; third prize of $1100. Eligible are students who will have junior standing the next year. Students may enter any work of poetry, fiction, journalism, or nonfiction submitted in an English department course. Friends of the Library Essay Contest

Greer-Hepburn Awards Senior Prizes in English
First prize of $4750; second prize of $2375; third prize of $1530; fourth prize of $720. Eligible are students who will have senior standing the next year. Mary Jo Priest Memorial Awards in Technical and Scientific Communication
Three awards of $250 each, one each for best report or proposal, best instructional text (print), and best on-line communication. Eligible are students enrolled as majors or pre-majors in Miami's Bachelor of Arts in Technical and Scientific Communication.
