Consultation Services
Incredible Years Dinosaur School Implementation Project
A past effort of the Center for School-Based Mental Health Programs was assisting the Butler County (OH) Educational Service Center (BCESC) and the Butler County Head Start Program in efforts to promote effective practices in Head Start classrooms. Specifically, the Center provided mental health consultations, including classroom observations, consultation with Head Start teachers, and consultation with the other BCESC Head Start staff.
Group observations were conducted in each classroom two times during the school year, in each followed by a teacher consultation and written observation report. The observations/consultations utilized a systems-oriented framework that emphasized the promotion of prosocial and proactive teacher-child interactions. The consultations were completed by clinical psychology doctoral trainees affiliated with the Center, working under clinical supervision.
