Consultation Services
Butler County Head Start
The Center for School-Based Mental Health Programs is assisting the Butler County (OH) Educational Service Center (BCESC) and the Butler County Head Start Program in efforts to promote effective practices in Head Start classrooms. Specifically, the Center is providing mental health consultations, including classroom observations, consultation with Head Start teachers, and consultation with the other BCESC Head Start staff.
Group observations are conducted in each classroom two times during the school year, in each followed by a teacher consultation and written observation report. The observations/consultations utilize a systems-oriented framework that emphasizes the promotion of prosocial and proactive teacher-child interactions. The consultations are completed by clinical psychology doctoral trainees affiliated with the Center, working under clinical supervision.
