David Schloss

David Schloss obtained his MFA from Iowa. His academic interests primarily include: Creative writing/poetry; American and World Literature (classical, modern and contemporary); and Film: history and aesthetics.
He is the author of six books of poetry: Group Portrait from Hell (Carnegie Mellon
U Press, 2009), Behind the Eyes (chapbook, 2005), Greatest Hits (2005), Sex Lives of the Poor and Obscure (2001), Legends (1976) and The Beloved (1973).
Individual poems have appeared in Antaeus, Ohio Review, Partisan Review, Poetry, Paris Review, Chicago Review, Iowa Review, North American Review, Shenandoah, Crazy Horse, Western Humanities Review, and many other literary journals. His work has been included in The Poetry Anthology 1912-2002, Best Poems anthologies, as well as many others. He has written critical essay/reviews on contemporary poetry including a lengthy one in The Cincinnati Review.
He was Project Editor for two volumes in the Miami University Press Poetry Series, for which he served as First Reader, and was Final Judge and Editor for two volumes in the 2009 Novella competition for the Press. He has been a past recipient of a scholarship to the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and Individual Artist Fellowship from Ohio Arts Council, and has received a number of citations for good teaching from the University of Cincinnati and Miami University.
He has finished two other poetry manuscripts, Reports from Babylon and Beyond, and Provocations.
