Beyond Raku

For the first two days of class, students either focus on learning throwing and altering techniques using five pounds of clay or less; or hand building with slabs for fun and profit. Demonstrations in each area will supplement independent student work time. The rest of the week will be spent learning about developing raku glazes from scratch and experiencing the magical art of raku.

Steve Forbes-deSoule is a full time ceramic artist and workshop presenter, and is well known for his innovative raku glazes. He received his Master of Visual Arts degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. He was an Assistant Professor of Art at Agness Scott College for six years. He has taught workshops through the US, Canada and Mexico. His raku vessels are part of corporate and private collections in the US, Canada, Europe and Japan. Gallery
