Married Metals: Advanced Jewelry Making

Married metals is a process of combining contrasting non-ferrous metals through heat and high-temperature solders to produce patterned sheet. This workshop will introduce participants to a wide variety of patterns possible. Participants will produce married metal patterns including bars and stripes, herringbone,snakeskin, solder-fill and appliqué, and learn techniques to construct and color objects to enhance the contrast.

Lucille Hautau holds an B.F.A. in Graphic Design and a M.A. in Metals from Miami University. She has worked as a commercial jeweler and has more than 20 years experience in teaching. She has exhibited widely and won numerous awards, most recently Best of Show at Pyramid Hill Art Fair. She has juried many shows and served as artist-in-residence.
