Pewter: The Other White Metal

This hands on workshop will introduce participants to the boundless creative potential of pewter. This studio will explore a variety of hollow forming and fabrication techniques in pewter. Pattern development, scoring and bending, tube and hinge construction, welding and soldering, casting alternatives, bimetal construction and surface embellishment are among the topics presented.

Tom Madden, Temperance, Michigan is a returning CraftSummer instructor. He is an Associate Professor and Section Chair for Metalsmithing and Jewelry at the College for Creative Studies, Detroit, Michigan since 1991. He holds an MFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Studio Arts Center International, Florence, Italy; the Ohio Crafts Museum, Columbus, Ohio; and the Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo, Ohio.    Gallery
