Paper Batik: Hands On

This workshop is designed for people who want to try this ancient, but unique and exciting process to create beautiful, contemporary works of art. By using high grade watercolor paints to tint and stain selected rice papers after hot wax designs are applied, workshoppers will produce stunning results with a magical beauty. This batik instruction will go beyond the traditional batik methods by incorporating watercolor paints, sumi ink, and washi papers with multiple layers of hot wax applications, resulting in spontaneous looking works of art.
