Anatomy of a Pot

In the course “Anatomy of a Pot,” we will address the basics of how to throw on the wheel, what the qualities of a functional vessel are, and how aesthetics affect our decision in the creation process. We will start with the most basic of wheel throwing forms and progress until we arrive at spout and handle attachment. Students will also be using mold made figurative elements in combination with the utilitarian form. We will address how these additions affect our perception of the vessel and how these elements have influenced the use of practical and ritual items of the past.
