Impressions in Ink: Letter Press and More
Take inspiration from old-fashioned techniques and learn a unique craft in this introduction to letterpress printing. Engage with antique printing presses using metal, wood type and ornaments to create prints, hand-setting type and basic typographic design concepts. Processes covered will include mixing inks, simple color theory, and hand-setting type. Students will experience the printed multiple, culminating with a portfolio exchange containing prints from everyone in the workshop. Fine motor skills important, ability to be on feet for 3+ hours a day.
Erin Beckloff earned her BFA in Graphic Design from Miami University of Ohio. As an Art Director at advertising agencies in Cincinnati and Kansas City, she learned the marketing process and developed award-winning print materials. Erin learned the printing process through practical application and shared knowledge of master printers. She established her company, inky winke, and spends her time as a freelance designer and letterpress printer. Gallery
