Dyeing: Creating Color Fearlessly!
Using MX Fiber Reactive dyes, we will explore mixing dyes to create full color spectrum on cotton yarn and fabric. Students will dye samples as well as yarn and/or fabric to take home for future projects. This is a creative workshop that encourages fearless experimenting and non-traditional dye techniques. We will talk about fundamentals of using color in projects as well as the technical aspects of the dye process. Open to all who use cotton: knitters, weavers, quilters and more!
Kathrin Weber has been a professional fiber artist since 1980. Her work revolves around dyeing, weaving and teaching. She has a fearless enjoyment in using color in her line of space-dyed, hand woven blankets. She enthusiastically encourages student to dive into color. She teaches at Penland, Arrowmont, John C. Campbell Folk School, Fiber Guilds and Fiber Conferences across the country. No matter what her classes are officially entitled, they are ultimately about color and good technique. Gallery
