Ceramics: Techniques in Form

This is an intermediate to advanced class oriented toward improving skills and developing better form through demonstrations and hands on projects. There will be daily demos on throwing and altering techniques with attention to form, proportion, and details. The class will cover technical information and many helpful tricks, as well as offering individual instruction and critiques with students. The course is designed for those with experience in throwing or hand building techniques.

Susan Filley received her MFA in ceramics from LSU and has since worked as an studio artist and potter. Known for her elegant porcelain pots, her work has been exhibited internationally and has received numerous awards. Susan served as President for the National Council for the Ceramic Arts and has taught at many craft programs and workshops. Awarded a grant by the Arts Commission, Susan established an innovative coop studio/gallery in Charleston, SC. Susan now has her home studio in Chapel Hill, NC. Visit Susan's website.
