Ceramics re: fresh
This class intends to take you from lump of mud to mug. We will cover several different slab building and wheel throwing techniques, talk tricks, and solve problems. This is the perfect course for students looking for a crash course in the basics of ceramic forms and techniques. Whether you are refreshing your dormant skills or just starting out, this class will push your creative limits and give you some new and simplified ways of working in clay.
Zach Medler is an emerging potter, printmaker, and painter from Indiana, who often features narrative scenes and imagery intricately printed into or onto the surfaces of his work. He has received acclaim from the regional art journal, Art-to-Art Palette and several local newsprint publications. His installation, “erosion,” was a featured topic at the Great Lakes American Studies Conference in 2009 entitled "Imaging America.” A participating member of the exclusive “Indiana Artisan” program, Medler has exhibited solo shows throughout the Midwest and performed workshops at art centers, galleries, and universities. His work is represented by galleries around the region and has been exhibited nationally. He holds an MA in ceramics from Purdue University and works with exhibitions and teaches ceramics and mixed media arts to adults and youth at Arts Place in Portland, IN. Gallery
