Travel
Workshops are held on the Oxford campus of Miami University in Oxford,
Ohio unless otherwise stated. This academic and rural community is 35
miles north of Cincinnati and 45 miles southwest of Dayton. All registered
participants will receive a parking pass along with additional
information concerning parking.
If you're planning to fly, do not schedule flights until your workshop has been confirmed. At that time, schedule the Cincinnati or Dayton International Airport as your destination. A university vehicle may be available to pick up and return participants to the airport at designated times. If you need transportation to and from the airport, it is suggested that you contact the CraftSummer office for our shuttle schedule before making final reservations.
Housing - On campus options
The elegant, accommodating and affordable Marcum Conference Center & Miami Inn is a favorite location surrounded by beautiful grounds and wooded setting. Rates begin at $79.00/per night (plus sales tax) single full or double twin, $89/per night (plus tax) single or double queen or single king and $99/per night (plus tax) suites-single king. Upon check in, you must mention your CraftSummer enrollment to receive the discount.
Additionally, on-campus
housing is available in an air-conditioned suite style dormitory not far from the workshop sites. No pets are permitted and accommodations
do not include meals. The Shriver Center, conveniently located near
all CraftSummer facilities, provides a variety of food service outlets. For sit down dining during lunch the One Eight 09 Room at Shiver is open Monday through Friday only.
Students will stay at a residence hall located on the north side of campus. Our residence hall provides suite style accommodations with each two bedrooms sharing a bath.
Dormitory rates for 2011 are $38.25 per person/per night for a single room (plus sales tax) and $31.00 per person/per night (plus sales tax) for a double room. If requesting a double room, you'll need to provide the name of your roommate, otherwise, the single room charges will apply.
The dormitory is air conditioned and linens are provided and the MU-Guest wireless network is available for you. There are no refrigerators or televisions in the room. Feel free to bring an extension cord for your convenience.
A desk clerk will assist you with check-in upon arrival. Check-in for the dormitory is no earlier than 3:00 p.m. on the day of arrival;
check-out is no later than noon on the day of departure. There is a lost key replacement charge.
Payment for your stay is expected when you check-in.
To make a room reservation fill in the information requested in Box 9 of the registration form. As a reminder, please do not send the housing fee with your registration - housing is payable at check-in. Miami University Conference Services can accept payment by check or money order made payable to Miami University. Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express credit cards are accepted. No cash please.
