Providing unique, exciting, and interactive learning opportunities for children. Participants explore, discover, and investigate the mysteries of science, the excitement of the arts, and new avenues of self-expression. Current Kids in College offerings are:

 

The Wonders of Science!

Advanced Robotics: The Ultimate Experience *
with the Sciensational Workshop Faculty

Build a Robot Dinosaur, Mars Cruiser, Aquabot, Space Copter, Desert Rover, or “The Five Foot Tall Commander Robot.” You can also build your own robots with our motors, wires, controllers, and wheels. Use your imagination! It’s a challenge, but you can do it if you think! Get ready for Sumo Battles, the Battle Box, and Sciensational Workshops’ Build-a-Thon!

All Systems Go! Your Body Systems and How They Work with Kari Cooper

Where does your food go once it is swallowed? What would happen if you had no bones? How far can your heart squirt blood? Explore the answer to these questions and more in All Systems Go!

Can You Dig It? Fossil Hunt! *
with the Sciensational Workshop Faculty

You will excavate over 100 fossils- some up to 200-300 million years old! Discover an actual dinosaur bone and a 250 million year old trilobite. Identify 20 million year old sharks’ teeth, mammal bones, and more. Make fossil plaster replicas of a cave bear tooth, ammonite, and Tyrannosaurus Rex tooth. Grow crystals and learn the secrets of stones!

Electronic Lab *
with the Sciensational Workshop Faculty

Build 30 different projects and experiments with your own electronic kit in this hands-on workshop! The Science Electronics Lab will help you make science project ideas come alive as you build 30 projects with working Electronic Circuits. Then have fun designing your own projects once you’ve built all 30! Parts and a deluxe manual are yours to keep!

Make and Take it Home * with the Sciensational Workshop Faculty

In this exciting, hands-on program you will discover how amazing science is. You will make and take home a wide assortment of toys designed to teach you science concepts in a hands-on way. Grow your own crystal tree. Make an energy bead bracelet and watch as those amazing beads turn from white to a rainbow of colors before your eyes. Make a lava lamp. Build a working electric motor. Make your own sharpie shirt and learn some cool chemistry. Make silly putty, glowing goo, green flubber and other cool projects. AND by the way... we will make ice cream in our own amazing, different, sciensational way!

Maglev Cars - Magnetic Levitation
for Future Transportation * with the Sciensational Workshop Faculty

Build your own futuristic maglev car to race and take home. Have fun building it and learning how it operates! Learn about the relationship between magnetism and electricity. You will also get to build a maglev track, a cool electromagnet, and the world’s simplest motor. Make your own compass and take part in many other magnificent magnetic activities! Have fun and learn while doing hands-on activities.

The Rocket Robot: A Look Into The Past and The Future *
with the Sciensational Workshop Faculty

Your Rocket Robot works by the clap of your hands or the sound of your voice. It will automatically reverse, and then turn left before embarking on a new course - and it’s fast!!! You control its movement and you can make it more or less sensitive to sound. You will see, first-hand, the many gears, circuit board, and microphone, that power this futuristic marvel. Be a part of Robotic Technology and experience the future!

Animal Art with Jenna Rahrig

Want a pet nobody else has? Make it yourself! Design and make your own life-size pet using papier mache, newspaper, wire, and paint! In one week, you can create any creature you can imagine!

Braille: The Language you can Touch with Stefanie Kelly

Learn the history of braille: writing that does not require sight to read! Learn how to write in Braille with activities like sign-making, recipe day and more! The last class will be a party day for your family- demonstrate your new skills!

Canine Adventures with Tony Finnell

A Day in the Life of a CSI
with Amy Thomsen

Become a “real life” crime scene investigator! Collect evidence from a mock crime scene. Compare finger prints and shoe prints, learn about crime-scene science, and even sketch the crime scene! When you finish your experiments, name a suspect! The law is in your hands!
