Forensics
Miami's Forensics Society, open to all students, engages in intercollegiate debate and individual events activities. A large support staff (a director, two assistant directors, and four assistant coaches) provides students with exceptional instruction in competitive public speaking.

The debate program travels nationally to schools such as Kansas, Wake Forest, Wayne State, and Baylor. Miami has a long tradition with National Debate Tournament (NDT) policy debate. We have twice hosted the NDT in the last five years. Also during those years, Miami's debate team has won awards at the University of Northern Iowa and Illinois State.
Four times in the past five years, including 1999, Miami's forensics teams have won the state title. In recent years, Miami's individual events (I.E.) program has been ranked seventh in the nation among more than 100 colleges and universities, and the I.E. program has won awards at Arizona State University, The Ohio State University, and Bradley University. Individual events include extemporaneous speaking, oratory, prose, and after-dinner speaking.

You can get more information about this group at 157 Bachelor Hall or by calling the Director of Forensics at 513-529-2278.
