WHISP

Williams Hall Interdisciplinary Studio Project

This two-course sequence provides an exciting opportunity for mass communication students to work with students in theater and other disciplines to adapt student-authored, 13-minute scripts for television.

Original scripts with the theme "Tales from Elsewhere" will be solicited from Miami students. In the fall, a 4-credit pre-production course will first narrow the finalist scripts to one or two, and then turn them into operational shooting scripts that include location, set design, costuming, talent selection, costuming, post-production needs, and planning for distribution and promotion. A diverse group of students will be involved in this pre-production course that is cross-listed with theatre.

In the spring, another 4-credit course will encompass the actual production sand post production. Enrollment in this second course will include some of the same students from the first semester. Ray Moore, the distinguished British producer and director, will work with students, faculty and staff for three weeks to ensure a professional and high quality production.
