The Master of Arts in Mass Communication

The Mass Communication area of the Department of Communication offers a highly individualized program of study leading to the Master of Arts degree. The program is designed to provide intensive study in the field of Mass Communication for the graduate student who is interested in eventually pursuing a doctoral degree and an academic career or a career that would be enhanced by an education firmly grounded in Mass Communication theories and methods. The program approaches the study of the media from humanities and social science perspectives and offers coursework in Media Theory and Criticism, International and Comparative Media Studies, Historical, Critical, and Empirical Research Methods, and Media Law, Policy, and Management.
