James Patterson received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in 1999. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Louisiana State University.   He teaches in the areas of organizational communication, technology, and communication theory.  His research and scholarship activities focus on health issues related to the Internet, the rise and fall of entrepreneurial ventures, and the application of new communication technologies in organizations.  In addition to conference presentations and invited book chapters, his research has been published in the Journal of Health Communication, Journal of Applied Communication, Personal Relationship, and the Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare.
