Professor Friedenberg has been on the faculty
at Miami University since receiving his Ph.D.
from Temple University in 1970. His primary research
interest is political communication and his secondary
interest is the history of American Jewish preaching.
Friedenberg has written or edited six books, the
most recent being Notable Speeches in Contemporary
Presidential Campaigns. His co-authored text,
Political Campaign Communication: Principles and
Practices is the most widely used and cited book
in the field of political communication. Friedenberg's
Hear O' Israel: The History of American Jewish
Preaching 1654-1970, received the Religious Communication
Association's Book of the Year Award. Friedenberg
has written chapters in 12 additional books and
has written 19 articles. He has made scholarly
presentations to 49 scholarly meetings, including
the keynote address at three such meetings. He
has received awards for excellence in teaching
from both Miami University and the Central States
Speech Association. He is a past president of
the Religious Communication Association and has
served as an officer of several professional associations
and on the editorial boards of three scholarly
journals. |
