Dr. Cherney's scholarship focuses on ableism and the rhetorical institutions that propagate and sustain it. His teaching experience is in the field of speech communication and rhetoric. He received top paper awards at Central States Communication Association, Speech Communication Association and Southern States Communication Association (’95, ’94, ’94), and was named Outstanding Graduate Student in 2000 at IU.
