Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Oct. 15, 2002

Members present: C. Hennon, C. Wolfe, J. Teets, F. Constantinidou, D. Bergen, C. Paternite.

Meeting began at at 1:30 p.m.

Introductions:

Members of the Executive Board met with members of the Advisory Committee to share ideas.

Advisory Committee Reports:

Clark reported that she has been working on "Empower One", a program for people within the city of Oxford that empowers individuals and families in overcoming barriers to self-sufficiency.

Clark also indicated that the Homework Club needs a coordinator. This position is paid and would be available to a graduate student who wants to work with kids from December-June.

Valerius reported the need for a graduate student to collect data on cases involving probate action. Valerius also indicated the need for possible CHDLT help in customer satisfaction surveys of various Butler County service providers. Valerius also reported that Chris Berke (Corky from the TV series "Life Goes On") will be presenting in the area from December 2-5 and is interested in utilizing his time in other public venues.

Wade reported on two projects, one ongoing and one new.

The new project will follow 3-6 year olds with traumatic brain injury and compare them to children with orthopedic injuries. The project will be a way to gain testing experience and will fund 2 ½ FTEs. One position must be a full-time project coordinator and the rest could be one full position and one part time or three part time positions.

The ongoing project is an online treatment program for children, ages 5-6, with traumatic brain injury. There will be 2 part time positions (Project coordinator, Therapist) open in the summer.

The meeting concluded with discourse between Executive Board members and Advisory Committee members regarding the presented topics.
