Family Studies Discussion
Hennon updated board on family planning projects, including development of a web page to draw new students. He outlined a new Practicum Family Life Education class (FSW 620). Coursework will include researching background information focused on parenting exceptional children. Topics relating to Research Challenge Grants were discussed, including safer neighborhoods, stronger workforce, and reducing high school dropout rate. Hennon intends to investigate Third Frontier, and Teets will research a previous collaboration between Cincinnati Bell and Cincinnati City Schools.
Update on Present Projects / Submitted Proposals
Constantinidou reported that she is still waiting for a response for the NIH proposal for further evaluation of treatments for those with brain injuries.
Faculty Associates
Several faculty members were suggested as possible new Faculty Associates, and board members were encouraged to contact these individuals.
Research Discussion
The first Research Discussion is planned for October 30th with Dr Cecilia Shore and Dr Katherine Wickstrom scheduled to speak. The Board considered various methods of publicizing the discussion, made several suggestions of who to invite specifically, and revised the Research Discussion flyer.
