Executive Board Meeting Minutes March 11, 2004

Research Discussion

Constantinidou confirmed that she will be presenting at the April Research Discussion. Her tentative topic will be the Effects of Categorization Training on Patients with Traumatic Brain Injury. The discussion will be held in Bachelor Hall on April 1st at 12:30, with a second speaker yet to be announced.

Web Site Update

Webmaster Hannah Farrin has described the recent changes to the CHDLT web site. The background has been changed, and faculty pages have been updated with links and information changes. When the Family Supports site is finished a link will be created from the Center homepage, as well as a link to the Dragonfly web site.

Family Supports Update

Hennon reported that they are developing a common template for the different informational links. They are also beginning to layout pages as students are finishing their research. He also stated that the existing links are being updated for accuracy.

Advisory Committee

In order to meet with Advisory Committee members, Bergen has initiated individual lunch dates with them. There has already been a lunch with Mary Jo Clark, and the next date is with Mary Kay Schmeing. Executive members are invited to join any lunch date in order to share their research interests and perhaps involve Advisory members.

Proposals

The Improving Teacher Quality grant is now underway and so far they have all 60 volunteer teachers and 6 of the 10 administrators allotted for by the grant. This grant will allow $300 for materials, $300 for coursework, and college credit to participants.

Potteiger is waiting to hear about 2 NIH grant proposals and a proposal to the American Heart Association about embedding physical activity in daily routines.

Constantinidou reported she should hear shortly about her NIH proposal that will attempt to increase cognitive abilities of patients with traumatic brain injuries.

Motion to add David Shriberg as Faculty Advisor (Wolfe, Sherman)

Motion to revise and reprint CHDLT brochure (Sherman, Constantinidou) Possible changes were discussed. The web address will be made more prominent. Board members also discussed uses of the brochure, such as graduate student recruitment, and dispensing them to new faculty and Deans and Chairs of pertinent departments.
