Executive Board Meeting Minutes Feb. 26, 2002

Members present: Y. Harris, J. Teets, D. Bergen, J. Burnham, A. Wang

Meeting began at 9:15 am.

Update on Projects:

All projects are moving ahead. Graduate and undergraduate workers have been hired. Bergen and Teets reported that they are closing out the budget on the Side-by-Side project. Harris reported that she is moving forward with her new grant to study the computer interface and children's learning. Constantinidou sent a report indicating she has sent in an intention to apply for a U. S. Dept of Ed grant. Wolfe has also indicated that he is exploring a grant possibility.

Potential New Faculty Associates

A discussion centered around the possibility of inviting some of the newer tenure track faculty in relevant departments to become Faculty Associates of the Center. Board members are asked to consider inviting a few faculty with similar interdisciplinary research interests to submit vitae for consideration.

Update on Web page:

Alison is just about finished with the web page, but is still working on the design. It will be about another week before it gets on the web. Bergen requested that Center board members look at the web site at that point to give feedback. Jessica will email the address to all. The new general web site address for the Center has not yet been obtained.

Meeting with the Dean:

Bergen spoke with Dean Schirmer to bring her up-too-date on our attempted discussions with other directors of EAP centers. Dean Schirmer is interested in meeting with the board. Members are asked to give as many possible times to Jessica as they can in order to set up the meeting. A set of questions for discussion with the dean were generated. Members not at the board meeting are invited to send other questions to Bergen. Advisory Committee members will also be invited to attend this meeting.

Next Meeting: TBA, after discussion with the dean.
