The Bicentennial Symposium on the Engaged University
September 23-24, 2009
Phillip R. Shriver Center, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio
Overall Purpose
- To imagine the University for the next centennial – one that will prepare students to succeed in a turbulent world.
- To bring together Miami faculty, students, staff, alumni and community members to co-construct how we can partner effectively to advance the engaged learning vision.
- To share current initiatives and gather feedback on how to improve these efforts and extend them into the everyday life of the university.
Format
The symposium modeled engaged learning. Sessions were interactive, inviting participants to exchange perspectives, best practices, and challenges related to engaged learning. External consultants joined these dialogues to offer their perspectives on how Miami can grow as an Engaged University.
