Privacy Policy

The Office of Career Services at Miami University is committed to providing privacy of personal information for our clients. We operate computer systems that are developed and maintained by Miami University technical staff. We also partner with external organizations for job listings, resume services, on-campus recruiting services, and career fair registration.

Information collected and maintained by Miami is used to provide and tailor services to our clients as well as inform them of services and programs that may be of interest. Information gathered by the Office of Career Services from students is governed by the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) as well as the Miami University FERPA Policy and the Miami University Online Privacy Statement.

Miami CAREERlink, our online system for job listings, resume services, on-campus recruiting, and career fair registration, is provided through a partnership with the NACElink Network, a national recruiting network. The NACElink Network is an alliance of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), a nonprofit professional organization for career centers and employers; the DirectEmployers Association, a nonprofit association of national employers; and Symplicity, a commercial technology provider of Web-based tools and software solutions. Please refer to the Web sites of these respective partners for details of their privacy practices.

To the extent that a student/alumnus opts to utilize Miami CAREERlink, the student/alumnus profile data and resumes will reside on NACElink Network servers. Policies governing this data are covered in the NACElink Privacy Policy. Miami University is not responsible for NACElink.

Student/alumni and employer information from Miami CAREERlink/NACElink may be used to construct aggregate reports that assist the Office of Career Services in program planning, for statistical reports, or to inform clients of services and programs that may be of interest.

Positions posted on the Miami CAREERlink/NACElink system are not screened by NACE before posting. Clients are urged to validate job postings and use caution and common sense when applying. Clients should not disclose social security number, credit card information or bank account numbers to unknown employers. Miami University and the Office of Career Services cannot be held responsible and/or liable for any damages, known or unknown past, present or future, from the information contained in or requested by the job postings.
