Welcome to Career Services’ latest issue of The Internship Bulletin. Our goal is to keep you informed about the internship resources available through the Office of Career Services and to provide you with information to help you with your internship search.
As we mentioned in previous issues, we encourage you to register on Miami CAREERlink as one part of your internship search. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST UPLOAD A RESUME AS A PART OF THE REGISTRATION PROCESS. If you do not upload a resume, your resume will not appear in the Resume Book available to employers.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
(REQUIRED) ORIENTATION: REGISTRATION PROCEDURES & ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWING
If you intend to participate in on-campus interviewing you must attend a (Required) Orientation. These Orientations are designed to help you develop your interviewing skills and to effectively use Miami CAREERlink. The next (Required) Orientations are scheduled for:
- Thurs., February 5, 5 – 6 p.m., Peabody/Leonard Theatre/Western
- Mon., February 9, 6 – 7 p.m., Shriver MPR-BC
- Thurs., February 12, 5 – 6 p.m., Peabody/Leonard Theatre/Western
SPRING INTERNSHIP & CAREER EXPO (Spring ICE) — Mark Your Calendar!
Spring ICE is scheduled for:
- Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 1:30-5:30 p.m., Millett Hall
Designed for students seeking internships and graduating students seeking full-time employment. More than 120 regional and national employers are expected. Students should dress professionally and bring copies of their resume.
A list of participating Spring ICE organizations (including organization links and descriptions, positions, and majors desired) is now available at our Spring ICE Information Site. You will be required to input your MUNet User Name and Password to enter the site.
In order to sign up for on-campus interviews, you must: a) be registered on Miami CAREERlink and b) have attended a (Required) Orientation.
Resume Review
You need a resume for Spring ICE. Career Services will have extended 15 Minute Express Drop-In hours on:
- Friday, February 6, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Hoyt Hall
- Monday, February 9, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Hoyt Hall
- Tuesday, February 10, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Hoyt Hall
15-minute appointments are available on a first-come basis and are a perfect time to have someone review your resume.
OptimalResume
OptimalResume (login required) is a very useful online resume-building tool. The program provides sample templates and a variety of styles to help you produce a professional-looking resume.
Interviewing Techniques Workshops
Are you prepared for future interviews? Come to one of the Interviewing Techniques workshops scheduled for:
- Mon., February 9, 4 – 5 pm, Hoyt Hall
- Thursday, February 26, 5 – 6 pm, Hoyt Hall

The National Directory of Arts Internships lists over 700 organizations offering approximately 1,600 internship opportunities in Art/Design, Arts Management, Dance, Festival, Film/Video, Museum/Gallery, Music, Performing Arts Design & Technology Art Fields, Photography, Theatre and Writing, Advertising, PR, Journalism, and Communications. Visit our Career Resource Center for this and other specialized directories.
