Welcome to Career Services’ latest issue of The Internship Bulletin. Our goal is to keep you informed about the internship resources available through the Office of Career Services and to provide you with information to help you with your internship search.


As we mentioned in previous issues, we encourage you to register on Miami CAREERlink as one part of your internship search. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST UPLOAD A RESUME AS A PART OF THE REGISTRATION PROCESS. If you do not upload a resume, your resume will not appear in the Resume Book available to employers.

ANNOUNCEMENTS


SPRING BREAK
The Office of Career Services will be open during Spring Break, but there will be no advising appointments or walk-in hours. Our Career Resource Center is open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Mon., March 9 – Fri., March 13


Remember, Spring Break is a great time to look for internships, network, and set up informational interviews.

Discover how to best prepare for an interview and what to expect.

(REQUIRED) ORIENTATION: REGISTRATION PROCEDURES & ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWING
If you intend to participate in on-campus interviewing you must attend a (Required) Orientation. These Orientations are designed to help you develop your interviewing skills and to effectively use Miami CAREERlink. The last (Required) Orientation for this semester is scheduled for:

Please note that you only need to attend one (Required) Orientation during your time at Miami in order to meet this requirement.


HOW TO GET A GOVERNMENT JOB WORKSHOP
An introduction to federal, state, and local government career opportunities.

PLANNING FOR GRADUATE SCHOOL WORKSHOP
Discover how to identify and apply to graduate schools. Co-presented with the Miami University Graduate School.

SHORT-TERM ALTERNATIVES WORKSHOP
Seeking something “different and exciting” prior to graduate school or your real job? Learn how to find an interim job, internship, or alternative experience (e.g., teaching English abroad, travel, etc.).

OptimalResume
OptimalResume (login required) is a very useful online resume-building tool. The program provides sample templates and a variety of styles to help you produce a professional-looking resume.


CAREER RESOURCE GUIDE TO INTERNSHIPS AND SUMMER JOBS, VOLUMES 1 & 2
This guide lists more than 550 internship and summer job listings in 16 major fields, such as activism, government, media, and sports. This resource also has indexes listing internships by geographical region, deadline, and educational requirements. Visit our Career Resource Center for this and other specialized directories.
