Academics
- Miami University ranked 26th among top public universities in the country according to the U.S. News and World Report 2009 edition of “America's Best Colleges.”
- Kiplinger's annual list of the “100 Best Values in Public Colleges” ranks Miami University as the top bargain in Ohio and 31st nationally. (2008)
- The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2007 praises Miami as “one of the rising stars among state universities” for its “strong emphasis on liberal arts and its opportunities for research, travel abroad, and leadership.”
- Miami was named one of 30 schools in the United States that offers “an education comparable to that at Ivy League universities at a fraction of the price” in the book The Public Ivies: America's Flagship Universities.
Recognition
- In Business Week magazine’s latest ranking of undergraduate business programs, Miami’s Farmer School of Business ranked 24th out of 511 accredited programs. The Farmer School also ranked 8th among business programs offered by public universities and colleges in the United States. Corporate recruiters ranked Miami 10th among the schools surveyed. (2008)
- Miami sponsors one of the largest collegiate career fairs in the country. Nearly twice as many employers recruit at Miami and four times as many on-campus interviews are conducted compared with on-campus recruitment programs at other universities our size.
- Miami's undergraduate and master's degree programs in accountancy were ranked 12th and 15th in the nation, respectively, by Public Accounting Report. (2006)
- Miami is among a select group of universities in the nation that have produced a Rhodes Scholar, a Truman Scholar, and a Goldwater Scholar in the same academic year. Other schools in this select group are Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Duke, Stanford, Syracuse, and the University of Washington.
Retention
- Eighty percent of students who enroll at Miami graduate - the highest rate among Ohio’s public universities.
- According to 2007 data, 90 percent of Miami students return for their sophomore year.
Diversity
- Miami ranks among the top 20 universities in the nation in the number of students who study abroad. Nearly 30 percent of our students study abroad before they graduate.
- Our graduation and retention rates for African-American students are consistently well above the national average.
