Computer Science Course Specifics
Professional Area Courses
Depending on the courses you choose, a professional area in computer science will provide you with practical experience in systems analysis and management information systems. These courses will prepare you to interact knowledgeably with the technical specialists with whom you will develop your communications.
Technical and scientific communication majors who wish to take their professional area courses in computer science and management information systems must select 18 hours from the list in this section. Students who take hours in a professional area as a summer scholar may be able to count up to 6 of the 12 hours toward their specialty area.
Course Substitutions
Contact Professor Norm Krumpe, Computer Science Department (529-0351; krumpenj@muohio.edu) to ask about possible CSA substitutions.
Contact Dr. Henry (Jeff) Smith, Chair and Professor, Decision Sciences and Management Information Systems (jeff.smith@muohio.edu) if you would like to ask about possible substitutions for any MIS courses. Please ask Professor Smith to forward a memo regarding substitutions to Jean Lutz in the English Department.
If you need to force-add an MIS course, please contact Belinda Cross (crossbr@muohio.edu) or pick up forms in Upham 311. The deadline to submit is 5 p.m. the first day of classes. Do not contact the professor or attend the class. Results will be posted at Upham 311 the second day of classes. Be sure to indicate that you are a BATSC pre-major or major.
Some of the courses listed below have prerequisites; however, these prerequisites do not count toward the degree requirements for the major.
