- To pursue a career in writing or editing in a specific scientific or technical field--or almost any field that requires web site design, writing, editing, or online publication.
- To prepare for graduate work in scientific or technical communication--or other fields that require excellent communication skills.
Careers
Depending on the scientific or technical field you choose, as a graduate of this major, you will be able to use desktop publishing, web authoring tools, and online development software to write and edit a variety of communications for the computer science, environmental, or medical/health fields--or any other field that needs your skills.
Examples of careers in these fields include:
- Writing print or online communications for computer hardware or software developers
- Helping scientists prepare journal articles
- Preparing newsletters, brochures, articles, or reports for the lay and technical audiences of hospitals or environmental firms
You might also decide to combine our major with a minor or co-major in Interactive Media Studies or you might decide to obtain a masters or doctorate degree in technical and scientific communication or a related field.
