Interpretation of "Las Mirlas"

This is a love song with very few words but a beautiful imagery. It seems to poke around love and that this person loves their partner but can't seem to get the words out quite right. This love may be forbidden or not reciprocated or secret, but it is something that consumes this person's mind through thoughts and dreams while awake and asleep. It is the first thought that goes through the mind in the morning and the last as it goes to sleep, as well as consuming the night. No matter what the situation, nothing has happened quite yet and they wait to be able to see, hold, and kiss their love.

The music that accentuates this piece add emotion and expression to the words. It is a wonderful array of music and display of Colombian music as well as Andean music. This particular song is from the Bambuco style of Andean music.
