Broadening Your Horizons

Looking to add a cross-cultural dimension to your education? The minor in Anthropology combines well with many different majors. This minor is especially appropriate for those who are planning professional careers in areas such as international studies and foreign service; international business; medicine, dentistry and other health fields; fine arts and education.

Minor Requirements

  1. At least 18 semester hours of Anthropology courses including:
    1. ATH 155 Cultures in Context (4)
    2. At least two courses from:
      • ATH 212 Introduction to Archaeological Theory and Methods (3)
      • ATH 231 Perspectives on Culture (3)
      • ATH 255 Foundations of Biological Anthropology (3)
      • ATH 265 Language and Culture (3)
    3. Additional Anthropology courses at 300 level or above, to total at least 18 hours.  To see new courses not listed in the Miami Bulletin, click here.
  2. The required number of hours must be attained with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher and may not be taken on a credit/no credit basis. Anthropology majors cannot receive a minor in Anthropology.
