Rebecca Jeanne Andrew Memorial Awards
Rebecca Jeanne Andrew was a Miami student who died tragically on 18 November 1995 in a skiing accident in France, while she was studying at Miami’s Luxembourg campus. She was a junior majoring in anthropology, with a professed interest in making her career in primatology. In Rebecca's memory, her family and friends have established a fund through the Miami University Foundation. Nominations for the Rebecca Jeanne Andrew Memorial Awards are received from faculty, and the awards from the fund are made annually, on or about her birthday (14 April). Award for the Best Paper Expressing a Holistic Approach in Anthropology
The Award for the Best Paper Expressing a Holistic Approach in Anthropology is funded by A. Robert and Nancy Tolley. The Department of Anthropology works to foster a four-field understanding of human beings. Papers that explicitly use theoretical and methodological approaches from at least two of the sub-disciplines are eligible for this award.

The Award for the Best Paper in Physical or Biological Anthropology is funded by the Carol E. Kist Student Award Fund. Physical and biological anthropology are fields that examine the biological and behavioral adaptations, variability, and evolution of human beings and their non-human relatives.
Carl Jantzen Award for the Best Paper or Creative Work in Cultural Anthropology
The Carl Jantzen Award for the Best Paper in Cultural Anthropology is funded by the Carol E. Kist Student Award Fund, and it is named to honor the work of Carl Jantzen, a cultural anthropologist who taught at Miami for over three decades. Cultural anthropology is a broadly defined field that examines social and cultural diversity and variability in human organization, behavior, language, meaning, motivation, ideology, and material culture in past and present peoples.
Senior Service Award
The Senior Service Award is funded by the Carol E. Kist Student Award Fund, and recognizes the senior who has demonstrated outstanding service to the Department of Anthropology over his or her tenure as an anthropology student. Faculty or Senior Staff nominations for this award should include a letter of recommendation identifying at least three ways in which the student has demonstrated outstanding service to the department and its students over multiple semesters.

Ronald and Judith Spielbauer Award for the Best Paper in Archaeology and Material Culture (2009)
This award was founded by anthropology students to honor the work of Ronald and Judith Spielbauer who have taught in the Department of Anthropology for almost four decades. The prize is awarded by faculty for excellent papers, which analyze past and present human societies through their material culture.
