October 2006
Dear Colleagues,
ASUÕs Interdisciplinary Studies Degree Program is 12 years old and has become the largest undergraduate major with 2,350 students at one of the nationÕs largest campuses. Members of our faculty have participated in AIS conferences for the past five years and we welcome you here to talk about designing and teaching interdisciplinary classes, administering and sustaining interdisciplinary programs, and thinking and writing about interdisciplinarity and integration.
WeÕre planning an informative, engaging and enjoyable conference. YouÕll fly into PhoenixÕs Sky Harbor Airport, jump on a free shuttle, and be at the conference hotel in ten minutes. YouÕll have plenty of time to interact with people from across the country who are also involved in interdisciplinary teaching, writing and research. And we hope youÕll present what youÕve been working on. YouÕll be able to bask in the warm days and cool nights and visit local sites such as the Heard Museum, Taliesin West and the Desert Botanical Garden. If you have a couple of extra days, you can venture off to Sedona, the Grand Canyon or Mexico.
We look forward to seeing you in Arizona for the 2007 AIS conference.
