Dear Colleagues,

 

Please join us for the Association for Integrative Studies’ 29^th annual conference in September 2007. The Interdisciplinary Studies Program at Arizona State University will be hosting the conference Thursday, September 27, through Sunday, September 30, at the Embassy Suites Hotel located three miles from ASU’s campus in Tempe. The theme will be “Interdisciplinarity at the Border: Creating, Thinking and Living New Knowledge.”  

ASU’s Interdisciplinary Studies Degree Program is 12 years old and has become the largest undergraduate major with 2,350 students at one of the nation’s largest campuses. Members of our faculty have participated in AIS conferences for the past five years and we welcome you here to talk about designing and teaching interdisciplinary classes, administering and sustaining interdisciplinary programs, and thinking and writing about interdisciplinarity and integration.  

We’re planning an informative, engaging and enjoyable conference. You’ll fly into Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport, jump on a free shuttle, and be at the conference hotel in ten minutes. You’ll have plenty of time to interact with people from across the country who are also involved in interdisciplinary teaching, writing and research. And we hope you’ll present what you’ve been working on. You’ll be able to bask in the warm days and cool nights and visit local sites such as the Heard Museum, Taliesin West and the Desert Botanical Garden. If you have a couple of extra days, you can venture off to Sedona, the Grand Canyon or Mexico.
