INTRODUCTION TO AIS

AIS Logo

The Association for Integrative Studies is an interdisciplinary professional organization founded in 1979 to promote the interchange of ideas among scholars and administrators in all of the arts and sciences on intellectual and organizational issues related to furthering integrative studies. Incorporated as a non-profit educational association in the State of Ohio, it has an international membership.

The purpose of the AIS website is to provide online information about the Association and to further connections among its members and others involved in interdisciplinary scholarship, programs, and teaching. The Association welcomes your comments and suggestions.

Reasons for joining AIS

As a member you will be kept informed of significant issues concerning integrative studies, and you will share in the central scholarly task of identifying the common elements in diverse conceptions of interdisciplinary study and research. You will aid the growth and enhance the quality of integrative colleges, schools, programs, and curricula throughout the nation. You will receive assistance in resolving problems of interdisciplinary research, program and curricular design, and in setting the highest scholarly standards of excellence for the conduct of interdisciplinary investigation. You will meet and exchange ideas with colleagues who have similar interests in interdisciplinary / integrative research and teaching.

Membership levels in the Association for Integrative Studies

  • Faculty/Administration: $50

  • Student: $25

  • Institution: $200

  • Library, $100
Individual (faculty/administration) and student members receive the quarterly AIS Newsletter and the peer-reviewed annual journal Issues in Integrative Studies, and one reduced registration fee at the annual AIS conference.

Institutional members receive four copies of all AIS publications; listings on the AIS website (with a link to their home page), in Issues in Integrative Studies, and at the AIS conference; and two reduced registration fees at the annual AIS conference.

Library members receive two copies of all AIS publications, and two reduced registration fees at the annual AIS conference.

How to join

To join, simply mail a check for $50 (faculty/administration), $25 (student), $200 (institutional), or $100 (library), payable to the Association for Integrative Studies, c/o Western College Program, Miami University, Oxford, OH 45056. Payment must be by check or money order in U.S. funds. (Rates for international members are the same.) AIS does not accept credit card payments. Please indicate in your mailing that the payment is for membership dues.

Donations help support AIS programs

The Association for Integrative Studies welcomes donations to support its programs. Supporters may send checks, payable in U.S. funds, to AIS, Western College Program, Miami University, Oxford, OH 45056, with a note that the funds are intended as a contribution. AIS is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c) (3) corporation so donations are fully tax deductible.
