Academic Personnel Services supports personnel actions of faculty, academic department salaried staff, and graduate assistants. The office staff assists academic departments and divisions, the regional campuses and Academic Affairs support units in all areas of personnel matters.

New Faculty Orientation

New faculty orientation will be Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Marcum Center from 7:30 AM to 1PM. Breakfast and lunch are included. For more information click here.

New Award Program for Excellent Service

Miami P.R.I.D.E. (Performance Resulting In Distinguished Excellence) Award Program for classified and unclassified staff became effective this month. PRIDE is a monetary award created to recognize and reward significant outstanding performance. A classified or unclassified staff person can be recommended for an award not to exceed $2,500 in a year for work on special projects, completion of job-related professional development not covered by a job enrichment program, significant achievements toward project goals, developing and assisting with implementation of an idea or initiative to improve business process or related cost-savings, or exceptional service or outstanding performance. To be eligible, an employee must have a performance evaluation on file that is less than one-year old and have an overall rating of Meets Standards, not be in a probationary status, and not have any written corrective disciplinary action within the past six (6) months. Divisions can develop an approval process that may include quarterly review and/or committee or review panels, with the Vice President providing a final review and approval. Parental Leave Policy Miami's parental Leave Policy provides for a period of paid leave for benefit-eligible employees. For details see Section 4.6 of the Miami University Policy and Information Manual. For information on procedures contact Celia Ellison 529-6724.

Emergency Relocation Loan Fund

  • Provide short term financial assistance in paying relocation expenses to new full-time faculty or staff
  • Available upon arrival to the Oxford area
  • May request up to $1,500
