Academic Personnel Services supports personnel actions of faculty, academic department salaried staff, and graduate assistants. The office staff assists academic departments and divisions, the regional campuses and Academic Affairs support units in all areas of personnel matters.
New External Service Reporting
Opportunities for external service can occur throughout the year. The new form for these requests is available by selecting this link, or on the Ethics page, the link for which is on the navigation menu on the left hand side. A Frequently Asked Questions document is available on the Ethics page to assist with this reporting. A list for faculty of common outside activities with directions as to what must be approved as external service and what does not require permission is also posted.
To comply with new state legislation relating to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), a new process is now in place for contracting services from individuals outside of Miami employment. Faculty, staff or departments who wish to engage the services of an individual that is believed to meet the guidelines for an independent contractor vs. employee, must follow the steps outlined in the Procedures for an Independent Contractor document. First, a determination must be made that a department can engage an independent contractor. Additional information can be found on our Forms page, under the Administrative Forms tab.
Academic Personnel would like to welcome our newest employee, Lisa Riendeau. Lisa joined our staff in February and will be responsible for the Graduate Assistant payroll and budget tracking. Be sure to stop in and welcome her!
Cellular Service Stipend
The process to request that an employee receive a stipend for work calls, text messages, or data on a personal device is now on-line. Supervisors who wish to submit a request must complete the Miami University Cellular Service Stipend Request Form. Additional information can be found on the request form. The form can also be found on our Forms page, under the Administrative Forms tab.
The NEW Retirement with Rehiring policies and procedures are now available. Select the "Faculty & Unclassified Staff" link from the navigation menu on left side, then click on the Full-Time Faculty tab to find "Retirement with Rehire Program".

Annual Evaluations of Unclassified Staff
In a continuing effort to support annual evaluations of Unclassified staff, an alternative evaluation instrument to the Performance Assessment and Development form is now available. If the shortened form is used, also complete the The Goals & Development Plan document. The Behavior Description document that relates to the nine core competencies will assist in using the rating scale. Additional information and the evaluation forms can be found by selecting the Forms link from the navigation menu on left side, then click on the Administrative Forms tab.
EPAFs for Spring Semester 2014 Released
EPAFs for Spring semester 2014 appointments can now be originated. Quick Tips for instructional EPAFs have been updated and are available at the Administrators' Corner under the "Resource" tab.
