Early Childhood Education
Program Description
The Early Childhood Education Major leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education degree at Miami University . Accredidation for the program is granted by the National Council for the Accredidation of Teacher Education and the Ohio Department of Education following guidelines of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Students take general knowledge courses in many areas, and concentrate mainly on those concerning education and the child. During their study, students will observe and participate in urban and suburban/ rural classrooms. The program is capped by a semester long student teaching experience in which students work closely with mentor teachers in a school setting, eventually assuming instructional responsibilities for all classes.
