Integrated Social Studies Program Description

The Integrated Social Studies major leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. Approved by the Ohio Department of Education, this program prepares its graduates to teach grades 7-12 in the areas of Social Studies (History, Political Science/Government, Economics, Geography, Sociology, Anthropology). Students take course work in the liberal arts, general and professional education, and each of the social studies content areas. Most students graduate with minor in history and political science. During their study, students will observe and participate in urban and suburban/ rural classrooms. The program is capped by a semester-long student teaching experience in which students work closely with mentor teachers in high schools and/ or junior high schools, eventually assuming instructional responsibilities for all classes.
