German Program Description

The German Foreign Language Education major leads to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Upon satisfactory completion of the requirements, students are eligible to apply for licensure in German. Approved by the Ohio Department of Education, this program prepares its graduates to teach the aforementioned language in grades K-12. Students are encouraged to seek a double major in Arts and Sciences in the language of their licensure program. During their undergraduate program, students with a German Education major are required to study abroad for a minimum of six weeks. All students will complete classroom observation in urban, suburban/rural classrooms. The semester long student teaching experience allows students to work closely with mentor teachers in grades K-8 and in grades 9-12. Student teachers eventually assume instructional responsibility for all courses.
