Iris DeLoach Johnson taught middle school mathematics in the Dallas Independent School District, and high school mathematics and computer science in the Caddo Parish Schools (Shreveport, LA). She is currently a Professor and Middle Childhood Education (MCE) Program Coordinator in the Department of Teacher Education. Her areas of research focus on the use of technology in mathematics education and making real-world connections for diverse learners.
A former Fulbright Lecturer to Portugal, Johnson has made more than 50 presentations in local, state, regional, national, and international conferences, and conducted more than 50 workshops in similar venues. Johnson has served as principal investigator (PI) or co-PI for grants totalling approximately $2 million, and has performed educational consulting for several organizations such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Consortium for Policy Research in Education (CPRE), the McKenzie Group, the Population Connection Corporation, and the American College Testing (ACT) Corporation.
