Zullig named AAHPERD Fellow

2/20/08

Keith Zullig (kinesiology and health) is one of nine candidates to be inducted as a Research Consortium Fellow at the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) convention in April.

Attainment of fellow status is one of the most prestigious honors the Research Consortium can bestow. "Fellows demonstrate an ongoing commitment to research and a high level of achievement in their field," said Ellen Staurwosky, consortium president.

Zullig's research focuses on adolescent health with a particular interest in health risk behaviors (substance abuse and high-risk alcohol consumption, violence, physical inactivity and sexual risk taking) and subjective well-being (self-perceptions of life satisfaction and health-related quality of life).

"This really is a top honor in the kinesiology and health field," said Helaine Alessio, kinesiology and health chair. "Keith's research on adolescent health and college health behaviors is known across the country and around the world."

AAHPERD is the largest organization of professionals supporting and assisting those involved in physical education, leisure, fitness, dance, health promotion, and education and all specialties related to achieving a healthy lifestyle.
