Dr. Jhan Doughty Berry has been at Miami University since 2004. She received her masters and doctorate in Counselor Education with a concentration in Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University and completed a NIMH post-doctoral fellowship in the Departments of Psychiatry and Epidemiology and Public Health from Yale University School of Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana. A certified rehabilitation counselor, some of Dr. Berry's work experience includes serving as the Supervisor for the School-to-Work Transition and Deaf Services Program in the Hillsborough County Public School District in Tampa, Florida. She also has worked as a counselor with children and adolescents in both a juvenile detention facility and an inpatient mental health facility.
Dr. Berry's research and scholarship is in the area of working with adults and children with severe mental health and/or physical disabilities, pediatric health care, intervention-based research, ethical issues in research and multicultural issues. She has published several articles in the areas of dual diagnosis (persons with co-existing mental health and substance dependence issues), multicultural counseling and intervention-based research. Dr. Berry has also received federal and private grant funding to conduct her research.
Dr. Berry is the Research Compliance Officer for the university and holds a Visiting Assistant Professor appointment in the Departments of Educational Psychology and Psychology. She is also a Faculty Associate in the Center for Human Development, Learning and Technology. |
